Welcome to my blog page!

First of all I just want to say that I am super excited to have my own blog page and even more excited that you have taken the time to read it! But please, please, please don't just read it this once; I hope to use it to keep everyone updated on the work I will be participating in the whole time I'm in San Cristobal. How often I update it will depend on you all, my friends and supporters. I would like to post a blog at least once a week, but if no one seems to be reading it (which I will have no way of knowing unless you either tell me or leave comments!) then I will be less likely to post new blogs. I also don't know how much free time I'm going to have, soooo....I'm not promising anything : )

That said, I still can't believe that I will be leaving next Friday! Between traveling, fundraising, and doing a few odd jobs to save money, my summer has really flown by! I am thrilled about the work and especially grateful for the opportunity! Since I have never actually been to San Cristobal, however, I am naturally a little apprehensive, as well. I can't help but wonder if my fickle stomach will get used to the food...if I will find creepy bugs in my shower every day...if I will be able to live without so many of the little things I have come to depend on...and a number of other concerns! I have been praying fervently though, and I know a lot of you have been as well, so what could possibly go wrong? (Ha ha!)

Thanks once again to all who have supported me. I couldn't have done it without you--and I really mean that! God has been looking after me by allowing me to get all the funds I asked for in such a short amount of time, and I pray that He will continue to look after me while I'm in Mexico. Please feel free to share this website with anyone else who might be interested. I would love to hear from any of you anytime, so don't hesitate to leave comments--and if it's something you would like to say privately, just shoot me an e-mail (my e-mail address is on the profile page).

Oh, and for all of you who keep telling me you want to learn Spanish... I plan to put a few new Spanish words or phrases on every post. Sometimes they will be embedded in the text, and sometimes they will be listed at the end. (It's up to YOU to print them out and study them though!) We will start with the alphabet...

Have a great rest of the day everyone! (Buen dia!)
~Elizabeth
P.S. I believe you can also sign up to receive an e-mail anytime I update the blog, in case anyone is interested.
